UEFA launches Invitation to Submit Offer process for sponsorship, licensing, retail and supplier rights for the sports apparel and sporting goods category relating to UEFA national-team competitions from 2010 to 2017.

UEFA has launched an Invitation to Submit Offer (ISO) process for the sponsorship, licensing, retail and supplier rights for the sports apparel and sporting goods category in relation to UEFA’s national-team competitions from 2010 to 2017. This follows the UEFA Executive Committee’s approval of the commercial strategy in January 2009.

Unique opportunity
Included in the comprehensive set of rights is the unique opportunity to design, produce and market the official match balls of UEFA’s premium national team competitions, in particular the official match ball of UEFA EURO 2012™ and UEFA EURO 2016™. The successful party will thereby have the opportunity to develop a long-term strategic partnership with UEFA.

17 April deadline
Until Friday 17 April, qualified parties (international sporting goods companies) may register their interest in receiving the ISO by emailing: eurotop.sports-apparel.iso@uefa.ch. After certain formalities, qualified parties will then be provided with the tender documents on the official launch date of the tender process, to be communicated in due course.

UEFA events
The UEFA commercial division is, among other things, responsible for generating sponsorship and licensing revenue from all professional national-team competitions, and managing the relationships with all associated commercial partners. The events managed by UEFA’s commercial division include: UEFA’s flagship events UEFA EURO 2012™ (taking place in Poland and Ukraine) and UEFA EURO 2016™ (venue due to be decided in May 2010) as well as the UEFA European Under-21 Championship (2011 in Denmark, 2013, 2015, 2017), UEFA Women’s EURO (2013, 2017) and UEFA Futsal Championship (2012, 2014, 2016), all of which fall under the UEFA EUROTOP programme.

New concept
UEFA introduced the UEFA EUROTOP programme as a new marketing concept designed to offer a limited number of leading UEFA partners the most comprehensive integrated rights package for UEFA EURO 2008™, along with full rights to the other premier UEFA national-team competitions.

Global sponsorship packages
Following on from the success of this programme and UEFA EURO 2008™, UEFA will appoint no more than ten global sponsorship packages for UEFA EURO 2012™, with up to eight of these also being granted full UEFA EUROTOP package rights. In addition, no more than four local packages will be made available by UEFA in Poland and four in Ukraine, continuing UEFA’s committed approach to work with a limited number of sponsors for greater value to those involved.

Other product categories
Beyond the UEFA EUROTOP package for the sports apparel and sporting goods category being tendered through this ISO, sponsorship rights in all other product categories are now also actively being marketed.
